I have recently just printed and framed some photos of when my youngest was born and was having her first cuddles with her big sister (I know 6 years late, I’m not setting a great example!!). I think they are my favourite photos of my two girls and bring back such lovely memories. My eldest was the most doting big sister. Even though she had only just turned two, she understood a baby sister was on the way and spent the months before practising with her baby dolls. The practise paid off and she was so amazing and helpful. I would absolutely love to be transported back to that time but instead just have some beautiful photos to retain the memories (and the cutest video of her first reaction to a dirty nappy…cue lots of squeals!)
It goes without saying I love a newborn shoot with an older sibling for this very reason, I know these photos will be treasured forever and not only by the parents but also the children. My girls coo over these photos, and my modest eldest always has to admit ‘I look so cute’!
Today I thought I would share one of my favourite baby & sibling shoots from last year. The proud big sister really reminded me of my eldest and had so much love and cuddles to give, she couldn’t have been more proud. She wasn’t too busy with baby during the shoot though and spoilt me with a three course menu of plastic food though, very sweet!
If you are expecting a second baby, and would love some gorgeous photos of your children together, do get in touch. It may seem daunting having a photograph in your home in the early weeks of a second or third baby, but I make it very easy for you. Sibling and new baby photos are always the hardest for parents to achieve themselves, but are the ones that bring the most joy, so it’s always worth it.
