I have updated this post from last year as I think now more than ever it is so important to be supporting small businesses. Little did I know when I wrote it the challenge that so many businesses would face in the year ahead and how they would need to adapt and evolve.

So as we celebrate our amazing Mums this Mothers Day let us also celebrate and support our local businesses.  This selection are all from my local village of Chiddingfold, an amazing hub of female entrepreneurs and creativity.  Of course if you’re not local, many have websites and supply nationally.  

For plant lovers – The Suburban Succulent

Wreaths aren’t just for Christmas!  Sally is the Queen of succulents and I’ve bought some gorgeous displays from her (sometimes for gifts that I end up keeping for myself)  This year Sally has gorgeous dried flower and faux flower wreaths, such a lovely idea to decorate your door or walls with a floral display all your round (that’s one of Sally’s creations in the photo above).

The classically elegant gift – Cherfold Flowers

You can never go wrong with a beautiful posie of flowers on Mother’s Day.  Caroline at Cherfold Flowers always has a stunning seasonal collection of posies and bouquets available to order which are often locally grown.  Her shop in Hambledon may be closed under current restrictions but it is open for click and collect and she has a sparkly new website for orders.  On her website you’ll see a range of other gorgeous little gifts too, she has an eye for beautiful vintage vases and vessels.  

For tasty treats

Chiddingfold is brimming with great bakers and Mothers Day is definitely an excuse for Mums to indulge in some tasty treats.

Elliots Coffee Shop has a lovely treat box available for Mothers Day. Each box includes a chocolate slice, a lemon slice, and a Victoria slice. £9.95 on collection.

The Tea Fairy does delicious boxes all year round and is doing a lovely brunch box for Mothers Day. Last I heard was that she was nearly fully booked so you may need to be quick!

Bakes by Eloise Finally for the most beautiful cupcakes Bakes by Eloise is doing a special box of Mothers Day cupcakes. Only a few spaces still available for these so again be quick!

Beautiful handmade jewellery by Artisan Annie

A lockdown business set up by Annie who was unable to open her beauty salon during lockdown and is now running a very successful handmade jewellery business. Stunning selection of handmade items all available to buy on her Etsy shop.

For cards and stationary lovers – The Surrey Studio

A lovely friend produces the most beautiful range of stationary and cards from her home studio. She has a range of off the shelf items, and also makes things to order if you’re looking for something personalised. Order via facebook or instagram.

For Vintage Chic Lovers – Betty & Maude Vintage Home

Jugs, trinket boxes, photo frames, jewellery, so many lovely things to choose from here.  What do I have my eye on?  Oh so much! I absolutely love the the juggle vases. You can order online, and pick up from down the road in Wormley, or have it delivered.  

For Garden Enthusiasts – Ramster Garden Membership

A lovely gift for garden enthusiasts, for £25 you can buy annual membership to Ramster Garden which gives you unlimited access to the garden during its opening times. It’s a garden that transforms spectacularly across the Spring & Autumn season so there is always something different to see.   It is opening towards the end of March, and no prebooking was necessary during the last Covid restrictions.

For Cookbook Lovers – The People’s Stand

Finally the gift that helped so many during homeschooling lockdown and also makes a lovely gift for Mum combined with a new cookbook (I am a self confessed cookbook addict so this would suit me!).  It comes in four designs, my favourite is the yellow pineapple design.
